My name is Nohemí Tintaya Maza, and I am a Tourist Guide student at the CENFOTUR Institute in Cusco. I am very pleased to share with you that I have completed my sixth semester. This achievement is a very important step in my academic journey, and I feel very excited because my graduation is getting closer. All of this has been possible thanks to the constant support of the Mosqoy program, which has given me the opportunity to study and grow.
Currently, in addition to my studies, I am taking a Portuguese course, which will allow me to expand my knowledge and improve my language skills, something very valuable in my career. I am very glad to read the nice reply note that you wrote. The cultural day and the talent show were very wonderful. In the event I participated in a traditional dance together with my classmates where we sang a traditional song titled `GALAMASHAKA` a Giriama song. My favourite act that I watched during the event was modern dances. I really enjoyed it since listening to modern songs keep me entertained especially when I am bored.
When we came home from school, the weather was sunny and everywhere was dry and also the rivers had gone dry. It looked bad because I like an environment which is green. But for now, the long rains have began and I am glad that the environment will now regain its beauty of being green.

My experience in the first year of high school was rather difficult, mainly because I changed from primary to secondary school - the way the teachers and the school work were different and seemed strange to me at first. I gradually got to know the teachers though and learnt how the school works academically, so by the end of the year everything was much better.

I am writing this to inform you that we have just closed the school for long holiday break which is taking two good months and also to allow the candidates to do their final examination in secondary school. It was fine at school but we finished the curriculum year well regardless of teacher´s strike that we had during the first two weeks.

For the time being we are having the holiday, I am taking studies from home where I get revision materials from The Kenya Connect Library to improve my performance. During my free time, I visit The Kenya Connect Library to read novels especially the ones for ´Harry potter´ to build my grammar.

Hello friends! I am very excited to write this journal.Being my first time to write to you I would like to share my experience in secondary school with you.I find that life in secondary school is more fun than in primary school. I have made new friends who have been of great help to me in my studies. I have already adapted to the new school life and teachers. They are nice and they teach us well to understand.
I have joined the netball club and I hope that I will participate in next year`s competitions. I am excited that the long holiday is here. I will be occupied with books and assignments.
Life at home is so good and I am having best moments with my mother and my sister. We are waiting for rains to come while getting ready for the planting season.

It was wonderful to hear about the end of year cultural day and talent show. It sounded wonderful! Did you do an act in the show? What was your favorite act to watch?

I was at Kenya Connect earlier this month. It's always good to see the Kenya Connect staff and visit with the children at partner schools. I even ran in the Running to Read festival. I was slow, but it was fun!

I hope you check out books from the Kenya Connect library during the school break. Reading will help you in school. I read every day for fun and I learn about people who live in different parts of the world than me or people who have different challenges. One book I recently read was about women in Japan who dive for abalone, a kind of shellfish that is food. It was fascinating to see how deep in the ocean they could go. I also liked reading Michelle Obama's books.

I am glad you had such a good school year. Have a wonderful break and keep reading!

In school everything thing was good though it had few challenges.
The climate in school was very cold and the sun would shine for few hours.
We used to wake up very early unlike the other terms because were preparing for a joint exam which is done by all schools in Kitui county.
Teachers on their side were very strict with rules.They would come to class very early in the morning so as to make sure that we have finished the syllabus.
Despite all, I passed and scored a B+though it was not my target.I will work harder next year so as to improve in my studies.

The year is nearly coming to an end and I am very happy because I will be proceeding to form three next year. Academic life in school was really nice and generally life at school was the best despite the year being long and a busy one.Two days before the school closed, the school held a cultural day which was also combined with a talent show. Students showed up their talents and acted many plays representing different communities with their cultures. We really had much fun during the event and after everyone`s presentation, the winner was crowned as Miss Machakos Girls. This event made the year become the best and a memorable one. We closed school on 23rd October and we will be going back to school on 7th January.
